It took us a little over a week but we finally found the creep. We were both very excited to be heading back home. After all, we both have kids! The newest addition to our family is my daughter Leiah Breanna who is only 2 months old. Unfortunately my girlfriend died during childbirth. It almost killed me but I had to be strong to take care of Dakota, Cobie, and now Leiah. I loved my kids fiercely, much like Tim loved his, and couldnt' wait to see them. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary for this flight and we were both settling in for a long trip home. What we didn't know was that the events of this flight would change both our lives forever. About 10 minutes into the flight we hit some pretty bad turbulence. It freaked me out but Tim reassured me that things were fine. He was definitely the calm, cool, and collected type! A few minutes later and the turbulence just seemed to get worse. Then worse. The pilots came over the intercome and said something that made me start praying immediately: "Ladies and Gentleman we seem to be having some engine trouble. Everything is ok right now. We'll keep you informed.""See, Tim, everything is not fine." I stated "We'll be fine, Little Dog. Just relax." He replied I took a few deep breaths and continued praying. I'm quite sure Tim is too. Suddenly I felt almost weightless. My eyes were wide and the last thing I remember is wondering if I'd ever get to see my children again. ********************************************************************************************* ** ARIA'S POV ** My best friend and business partner Adriana and I were flying from New York to Hawaii. We few into Denver for a plane change then it was off to Hawaii. Nothing extraordinary happened and we both just tried to get settled. The turbulence was extra bad which made me nervous. Suddenly the pilot came over the intercom system and stated, "Ladies and Gentleman we seem to be having some engine trouble. Everything is ok right now. We'll keep you informed."Adriana and I looked at one another and knew we might not make it to our destination. We tried to talk about the fun we were going to have to keep from thinking about the situation at hand. I felt like I was weightless and then I think I screamed. My head was pounding when I opened my eyes. It was cold. I was cold. Slowly sitting up I felt disoriented. "Adriana?" I called out Nothing but silence. I was scared. It was dark and cold and I had no light. Shakily I got to a standing position although my left arm hurt like a sonofabitch. I was having some double vision and I began to wonder if I had suffered a concussion or not. My body began shaking from the cold and I started to cry. Where were we? Hearing a moaning sound, I walked as quickly as I could towards it. There was a large metal plate on top of the sound so I tried to move it. I wasn't having much luck. "Here, let me help." I heard this deep voice exclaim as he came out of the dark "Oh! Were on this flight?" I asked Duh, what a stupid question. "Yeah. I was looking for my uncle when I found you." He stated as we got ready to push the plate off the individual beneath it It took us probably 15 minutes of pushing then stopping to rest we finally got it moved. I gasped seeing Adriana underneath it. She had a very nasty cut on her forehead and other fairly serious cuts on her arms and legs. She was semi-conscious so the stranger helped me get her moved somewhere else. He stated we needed to find as many other survivors as we could and then find shelter. I was so scared we were going to die that I couldn't think straight. "I'm Leland, by the way. What's your name?" He asked me as we sort of drug my friend "I'm Aria and this is my friend Adriana." I told him "Well, why don't you find as many sticks and twigs and stuff so that we can build a campfire. If you can get some rocks that would great as well. I'll keep searching for survivors." He told me "Ok. Will she be ok right here?" I asked, worried about my friend "Yeah she should be." He told me As I started to walk away, he told me to be careful and not to wander too far. I nodded and then began my search. My search was not futile as I found lots of sticks and twigs. As I was coming back with my third armload, I found Leland talking to some tall, slim, very handsome man with gray hair and a long braid. Seeing me approach, Leland gave me a warm smile. "Aria, this is my uncle Tim. Youngblood, this is Aria." Leland said, introducing us "Are you ok? You look disoriented." Tim said "I.... I don't know." I said, feeling like I was about to cry "It's going to be ok. As long as we stick together and work together we'll be fine." The tall man told me I simply nodded as I turned to go look for more sticks and rocks. Leland told Tim to help me since I was starting to struggle. Something about Tim made me feel safe and I wasn't sure why. Maybe it was because he was a bit older maybe it was because I had no choice but to trust them at this point. We didn't talk much as we gathered supplies. As we approached our make shift camp site we heard Leland talking with someone. "Aria!" Adriana stated as soon as she saw me "Oh my God are you ok?" I asked as I rushed over to my friend "I feel funny." She replied, looking bewildered "You sit for a while, gather your bearings. I'm still looking for survivors." Leland said giving us a warm smile "What happened?" She questioned "The plane crashed. You just rest, ok?" I told her Tim had gone off again looking for more supplies. I dug through the snow to find the actual ground. I was told once that it would help with building a fire. Right now we could all use some heat! As Tim returned he told me that he'd finished building the fire since we had enough wood for the moment and that I should go around the plane and see what things I could gather that we could use. Maybe I could find some blankets and stuff. That would really helpful! As I was returning with a few tattered blankets I found Leland helping Tim with placing the rocks & small boulders around where we were building the fire. Seeing me, he told me that he could not find any more survivors. It made me sad and I felt like I was going to cry. Once they got the fire going, which both Adriana and I were more than grateful for, Leland suggested that he and Tim try to bring some of the wreckage over to build some sort of shelter for the night. ** TIM'S POV **
Leland and I had been out in Colorado helping Bobby Brown with a bail jumper. It took us a little over a week but we finally found the creep. We were both very excited to be heading back home. After all, we both have kids! The newest addition to our family is his daughter Leiah Breanna who is only 2 months old. Unfortunately his girlfriend died during childbirth. It almost killed the poor boy but he was strong to take care of Dakota, Cobie, and now Leiah. He loved his kids fiercely, much like I loved mine, and couldn't wait to see them.
Nothing seemed out of the ordinary for this flight and we were both settling in for a long trip home. What we didn't know was that the events of this flight would change both our lives forever. About 10 minutes into the flight we hit some pretty bad turbulence. It freaked my poor nephew out but I reassured him that things were fine. I was definitely the calm, cool, and collected one!
A few minutes later and the turbulence just seemed to get worse. Then worse. The pilots came over the intercome and said something that made me start praying immediately: "Ladies and Gentleman we seem to be having some engine trouble. Everything is ok right now. We'll keep you informed."
"See, Tim, everything is not fine." Leland stated
"We'll be fine, Little Dog. Just relax." I replied
I took a few deep breaths and continued praying. I'm quite sure Leland is too. Suddenly I felt the world fall out from under me. My heart began to race, I began to sweat and the last thing I remember is wondering if I'd ever get to see my children again.
When I came to it was very cold and pretty dark. At first I couldn't seem to move any part of my body and I began to wonder if I was completely paralyzed, in shock, or simply near death. Taking a few deep breaths and praying some, I finally found the strength to stand up on shaky legs. I simply stood in the one spot for a while trying to gather my bearings. If I wasn't careful I'd get very lost and would most certaintly die.
I finally began walking toward the main part of the crash, stumbling slightly as I walked. Hell I even fell down twice just walking along. My body reacted to the cold and I began shivering. I surveyed the crash before me. Parts everywhere, bodies everywhere, body parts everywhere. It scared me because I couldn't find my nephew. If something ever happened to him I'd never forgive myself. To tell you the truth I'm afraid of Dog's reaction if something happened to his baby boy.
As I was walking around looking at bodies I heard Leland call my name. A wave of relief washed over me and I silently thanked the Lord for keeping him safe. We found ourselves in a tight embrace, thankful that we were alive. He told me that he had found 2 other survivors and that one was gathering wood and rocks to make a fire. He walked me to where they were trying to make a shelter. We talked about what we should do when he turned his attention to someone behind me.
"Aria, this is my uncle Tim. Youngblood, this is Aria." Leland said, introducing us
"Are you ok? You look disoriented." I said, surveying the poor woman before me
She was very petite but pretty fit. Long dark brown hair with soft curls that went to a few inches below her shoulder blades. She had dark eyes that looked black, a round, soft face. She looked innocent and my natural protective instincts kicked in immediately.
"I.... I don't know." She said, obviously upset
"It's going to be ok. As long as we stick together and work together we'll be fine." I told her
She simply nodded as she turned to go look for more sticks and rocks. Leland told me to help her since she was starting to struggle. Something about this woman made me feel like I had to protect her and I wasn't sure why. Maybe it was because she was a bit younger or maybe it was because I had no choice but to protect them at this point. We didn't talk much as we gathered supplies. As we approached our make shift camp site we heard Leland talking with someone.
"Aria!" This other woman stated as soon as she saw her
"Oh my God are you ok?" Aria asked as she rushed over to her friend
"I feel funny." She replied, looking bewildered
"You sit for a while, gather your bearings. I'm still looking for survivors." Leland said giving us a warm smile
"What happened?" She questioned
"The plane crashed. You just rest, ok?" Aria told her
I had gone off again looking for more supplies. As I returned I told Aria that I'd finished building the fire since we had enough wood for the moment and that she should go around the plane and see what things she could gather that we could use. Maybe she could find some blankets and stuff. That would really helpful!
As she was returning with a few tattered blankets she'd found, Leland was helping me with placing the rocks & small boulders around where we were building the fire. Seeing her, Leland told her that he could not find any more survivors. It made her sad and I thought she was actually going to cry. Once we got the fire going, which we were all grateful for, Leland suggested that he and I try to bring some of the wreckage over to build some sort of shelter for the night.
The ladies sat around the fire while we did just that. It took us quite a long time because we had to keep stopping to rest. We were both exhausted but knew we had to keep going. Our survival rested on how well we kept our heads. Constructing, or finding good, shelter would be absolutely essential until we were found. We worked to make sure the plates and stuff that we had gathered wouldn't collapse on us during the night and that they would actually shelter us from wild animals and the weather.

** ARIA'S POV **
I tried my best to sleep but it was incredibly hard considering our situation. Adriana seemed to the be the worst off out of all of us and I worried greatly about her. Rubbing my eyes as I woke up from the half-sleep I was in I found that Leland was sleeping extremely close to my friend. His arms were wrapped around her protectively. Tim wasn't laying down with the rest of us and I watched him with fascination. He was awake and sitting a few feet from where we had decided to sleep. It appeared he was keeping watch.
"You need your rest too." I whispered as I moved over to sit next to him
He whipped his head around and gave me a small smile.
"Couldn't sleep." He whispered back, "Why are you up?"
"I'm not sleeping well. Worried about Adriana, scared about....." I started before choking up
Tim wrapped his arm around me and pulled me closer to him. This small action made me somehow feel better.
"We are all scared. But we have to stick together. I know for a fact that our family will immediately be on alert when we don't show up. We just have to stick it out and do whatever we can to survive until then." He quietly stated
"I understand that. I'm not trying to be pessimistic or anything.... but I'm still frightened we won't make it." I confided
Why am I confided things like to him when I'd normally tell this type of stuff to Adriana?
"Because those are your instincts. Mine and Leland's are much different." He wisely told me
"Why?" I questioned, leaning my head on his shoulder after wrapping his blanket around us both
"I think it partly has to do with our job. We're bounty hunters so we rely heavily on our instincts. I think another part of it is because we're mean. I don't mean to be sexist or anything. I believe that at one point men were the ones who caught the food we ate, we were the protectors of the group." He explained
"I guess that explains my over whelming urge of care-taking." I chuckled slightly
"Could be. You should lay back down and get some rest." He told me
I couldn't say anything, just sat there looking up at him.
"Come on, if you lay down so will I." He stated
We moved where we were basically snuggled up to Adriana and Leland. Tim slid his right arm under my head and his left he wrapped around my waist. Feeling my body tense up he whispered in my ear, "Body heat will actually help keep us all warmer. Out here hypothermia is a very real risk.". I nodded, letting him know I understand.
It had been quite some time since I'd had a man this intimately close to me. I could tell Tim wasn't going to sleep until I did so I tried my best to calm myself down to slip into some kind of slumber. As I did, I felt Tim's body relaxing as well as he drifted into his own slumbery stated.
***********************************************************************************************
"What should we do?" I heard Leland ask
"Well, we have 2 options. 1-- we can stay where we have this decent shelter and hope someone can find us here. 2-- we can leave the safety of this shelter in search of someone who can help us. Since we don't know where we are, exactly, that could be a challenge." Tim replied
Adriana moaned and I immediately shot up to check on her. I could feel Tim's eyes on me and our conversation last night came flooding back to my mind.
"Are you ok?" I asked my friend
"Uuuuuh I hurt." She quietly replied
"Do you think you could walk today?" Leland asked her
"I'll try." She weakly replied, giving us a small smile
We talked about our options and what we all thought we should do. After a long discussion we decided it would be better to move on. We packed as much as we could carry from the wreckage and once we were fully awake, we began the long journey to wherever we wound up. Sometime around what I guess would be noon we stopped to take a long break.
We were all winded, tired, and hungry. Not too mention in some form of pain. Adriana was crying because she was in so much pain and it made me cry too. I was afraid I was going to lose my friend and it hurt so much inside. We've been through hell and back together. If I lost her now I'd lose everything. Suddenly arms pulled me away from her and I screamed.
"Shh, it's just me. Leland's going to try and help her. It's ok, calm down." Tim whispered to me
"I can't lose her, Tim!" I cried into his chest
He just held me as Leland did whatever it was he was doing. We'd walked a good few miles. If I had to guess I'd say we'd managed to walk 5 miles today. The guys decided we'd rest as long as we could here and if after a while Adriana felt like she could go on, we'd try to walk on some more. After Leland finished up with my friend, he just sat by her side talking to her like they were old friends. I sat down on a log and just laid my head in my hands.

** TIM'S POV **
I was the first awake. Looking over at m nephew, I noticed he had his arms wrapped protectively around the injured young friend of my interest. When Leland falls for someone he has a tendency to fall hard. In our situation, nah, we'll make it out alive. Leland began waking up so I turned my attention to our surroundings.
"What should we do?" I heard Leland ask
"Well, we have 2 options. 1-- we can stay where we have this decent shelter and hope someone can find us here. 2-- we can leave the safety of this shelter in search of someone who can help us. Since we don't know where we are, exactly, that could be a challenge." I replied

I just held her as Leland did what he needed to do to her friend. We'd walked a good few miles. If I had to guess I'd say we'd managed to walk 5 miles today. Leland and I decided we'd rest as long as we could here and if after a while Adriana felt like she could go on, we'd try to walk on some more. After Leland finished up with Adriana, he just sat by her side talking to her like they were old friends. I watched as Aria sat down on a log and just laid her head in her hands.
It broke my heart to watch her. I was very concerned about her friend though. She seemed to be in very bad shape. Taking a deep breath I moved to sit down next to Aria. She was shivering so I wrapped her up in my arms. We were all cold but we were doing our best to make it.
"Hey!" Aria suddenly exclaimed making us all look at her
"What's that?" Leland questioned, amused and intrigued
"Why don't we build like a, um, something so that we put our supplies and shit on it that way we can just pull it along instead of carrying it?!" She asked
"I don't see why not, if we have the materials to use." Leland replied
Giving Aria a light squeeze we got up to dig through the supplies to find what we could. Leland said he'd go find some limbs to use. We found some stuff we could use so Aria and I set them aside. It was going to be a challenge getting put together but we were bound and determined to do our best! We were just waiting for Leland to return. Adriana was laying quietly. Looking over at Aria I could see tears streaking down her cheeks.
"It's going to be ok. We'll make it through this." I whispered to her
"I'm so scared, Tim! We have no idea where we are and she's in really bad shape. It doesn't take a doctor to see that." She slowly replied
"I know. But we have to keep positive and keep moving. God will see us through this!" I told her
She sighed and ran her hands through her hair. Leland finally returned with an armload of nice-sized limbs. We immediately got started on making this craft. If we could get it made without the worry of it breaking down on us then that would take alot of the burden off of us. We worked for probably an hour before we were done. Aria tentatively began placing items on the sled. Leland and I held our breath. So far it was holding everything just fine. The next obstacle was moving around with it!
"Aria, let's try walking again." Adriana stated
"Are you sure? We don't have to go anywhere if you don't feel like it." Her friend replied
"I'm sure. Let's get moving." Adriana strained
Leland and I looked at one another. She was in very bad shape. We had to give the woman credit, though, she was giving it her all. Leland helped her up and I took ahold of the sled. It was kind of heavy but much easier to move. So far so good! Aria stayed close to her friend. Leland was up front leading the way, and making sure we didn't run into any unfriendly animals, while I was in the back with the sled making sure the girls were safe.
When the sun started going down we decided it was time to stop for the night. Leland and I began looking for a place to make a decent shelter. It had to protect us from the elements and wild animals and also big enough to allow all 4 of us to lay semi-comfortably. God was looking out for us because Leland found a cave that was empty. Looking up into the sky, I thanked the Lord and then ushered the ladies to where Leland said this cave was.
It wasn't overly big but we'd be able to sit down fairly comfortably. After setting the sled down, I helped Aria gather sticks and rocks to build a fire. Adriana sat in the cave with her blanket trying to warm. Leland had found us quite a few very nice stones to contain our fire and Aria was quick to get it going. She made sure Adriana was getting warm before turning to me.
"Tim, we have to eat. I don't know how much longer we'll be able to go on without nourishment." She stated, looking down like she was ashamed
"Alright. Let me talk to Leland and see what we can come up with. How is Adriana holding up?" I questioned
"She's very, very tired but is trying to keep her chin up." She told me
"Ok Sugar. Why don't you try and find a pot in our stuff and get some snow into it while I got talk to my nephew." I told her
She looked confused as to why I'd ask that but did as I asked. I talked to Little Dog about what Aria told me and he agreed. We decided that we would try and bag ourselves a white tailed deer. It was pretty ambitious considering we didn't have rifles, or bows, and only had the knives that we'd packed in our luggage. How in the hell were we going to pull this off?!

** ARIA'S POV **
While the guys were gone, Adriana and I sat cuddled together trying to keep warm. It was fairly warm, at least enough for a cave, but I guess we just needed the closeness. We talked trying to keep the conversation from the depressive current situation we found ourselves in. She confessed that in the talks she and Leland had she was starting to really like him.
I could hear the sadness in her voice so I questioned her about it. She told me that she knew if we made it out of this alive that she'd probably never see him again. I told her that funny was a funny bitch and that things would work out however they work out. She chuckled slightly.
The guys had been gone close to 4 hours and I was starting to seriously worry. What if something happened to them? Adriana and I aren't what you'd call the "outdoorsy" type. We'd never survive out here on our own! What are we going to do if they don't come back? We can't forage for food like the men, we can't build shelters like the men, we don't have the eye to find shelters like this cave like they do. Looking over to my oldest friend I found that she was drifting in and out of sleep.
I kept the fire going as I watched over my friend. Suddenly I hearing something from just outside the cave made me so scared I couldn't breath. If it was a wild animal Adriana and I were fucked because don't know how to fend off animals. If it were some creep out and about we were fucked because we couldn't fight him off. Much to my delight Leland appeared holding a couple of small, skinned animals. Tim was right behind him with a nasty gash on his forehead and another on his right forearm.
"Oh my God are you ok?" I asked, immediately getting up and walking over to Tim
"I'm fine." Tim replied
"You're bleeding from 2 wounds. That does not scream 'fine' to me." I retorted, making the tall man laugh
Leland said he'd get the meat to cooking so I ushered Tim outside. I had to use snow to "wash" his wounds but it was better than nothing. He let me do whatever I needed. After 'cleaning' his wounds I wrapped them with a shirt that I'd torn into rags. He flinched slightly as I wrapped his wounds. It worried me that he was even more injured than before but he kept telling me he was fine.
"I promise you, I'll live. We didn't get a huge bounty of meat but...." He started
"I'm sure what you guys brought is more than enough. Now are you sure you're ok?" I questioned
"Yes Ma'am. Let's get back inside the cave." Tim told me
Adriana and Leland were sitting close together chatting away as he tended to the meat that they'd caught. Tim and I sat down on the other side of the fire. We sat in silence for a while. I wanted to talk to Tim but wasn't quite sure how to start the conversation. Leland had my friend chuckling softly. The look on her face said that it pained her physically to laugh but emotionaly it was one of the best things for her. I sighed heavily making the tall, silver headed man look down at me.
"Are you ok?" He questioned
"I'm just.... they're getting along so well but.... what's gonna...." I sighed again
"You're worried about what's going to happen when we're found?" He knowingly asked
I simply nodded my head. He wrapped his arm around my waist and laid his head on top of mine.
"We'll be transported to a hospital for evaluation then once we're all better we'll be released. After that we'll head home. Speaking of, where's home for you? We live in Hawaii." Tim stated
"Well, we live in New York but were going to Hawaii for a few weeks for some R & R. Look where that got us! Everyone told us "working to the bone will kill you" and it was the vacation that probably did..." I trailed, getting teary again.
"Sticking together will greatly increase our odds of survival. We don't know what God's plan is. Maybe the 4 of us are together like this for a reason. If it's God's will that the 4 of us should make it out of this wilderness alive then we will." He stated, "What were you ladies wanting to do in Hawaii once you got there?"
"I was looking forward to the beaches, snorkeling, trying to learn how to surf." I replied
"Leland is a great surfer! I'm sure he'd be more than happy to teach you ladies. I'm a certified snorkeling instructor and I'll teach you for free. Being from the island we can show you the really great beaches to hang at." Tim told me.

** ARIA'S POV **
The next morning I woke up and found that Adriana and I were alone in the cave. Panic began to set in until I heard their voices just outside our temporary shelter. I rubbed the sleep from my eyes and looked over at my friend. She looked even worse than she did yesterday. Sighing heavily I stood up and found my legs were a bit shaky. How much longer were we going to be able to survive out here?
Slowly walking to the front of the cave I heard the guys talking.
"There's a blizzard coming, Little Dog. We're going to have to decide if staying here is the best option or if we can find a better option somewhere else." Tim stated
"Are you sure? What if it hits before we find better shelter?" Leland asked
"That's something we have to discuss when the girls wake up. Our journey just got a bit more dangerous." Tim replied
"I don't know if Adriana will be able to make it much longer. She was up all night coughing and shaking. Alot of the time she was coughing up blood and the shaking wasn't from the temperature. Tim, that girl is really hurt and I think being out in this cold is making things worse." Leland stated, worrying more than evident in his voice
"Little Dog we'll just have to do our best. Moving on might be the best option if there's a chance we could make it to someone's home." Tim stated
A few minutes later they started back into the cave so I quickly made my way to where I had been sleeping. I was rubbing the sleep out of my eyes when they came in. The air was heavy and I feared the conversation they were about to start with Adriana and myself. Leland cautiously and carefully woke up my friend. They were kind enough to give us a few minutes to fully awake before starting this conversation.
"Ladies we need to have a discussion." Tim started taking a deep breath
"Oh?" Adriana barely choked out before she started coughing
"I'm afraid so." Leland sadly stated
I began to wonder what else they had been talking about before I began eavesdropping on them.
"There's a blizzard coming. We might have a day before it hits. Leland and I aren't sure this little cave will be a sturdy enough shelter during the storm." Tim slowly stated, looking between my friend and me
"What are our options?" I questioned
"Well we could continue on in the hopes that we'll find better shelter or come across someone's home. Or we could stay here in the hopes that this cave will hold up to the winds and excess snow." Tim replied, giving me a sad smile
"Adriana is getting worse. If she doesn't feel like she can continue on then we'll figure something else out. I think the extreme cold is making her sick." Leland piped in
"I'll make it. If you guys think we can find better shelter elsewhere I vote we go for it." Adriana stated through a coughing fit
"Are you sure you can make it? You're coughing a whole lot." I asked my oldest friend
"I'll make it." She stated
"We don't want you ladies doing anything you don't want to. If you think we're better off staying here let us know. This is a discussion of our options, after all!" Tim replied
"I'm with Adriana. If you're not sure this cave will hold up and our chances are better elsewhere then let's go." I told them
We talked for a little while longer before making the final decision to leave this cave. The guys helped us pack up our blankets and stuff before we took a collective deep breath and began another day of walking. Leland stayed very close to my friend, wrapping their blankets around them both. Tim and I were pulling the sled with our meager supplies. We stayed quiet as we treaded onward. I'd never been much on religion, even though I grew up in a Catholic household, but I was talking to the man upstairs about my friend and our situation!

** ARIA'S POV **
It had started to snow and sleet a few hours after we left the cave. Fear was beginning to take ahold. Would Adriana, Leland, and Tim be the last people I ever see alive? Suddenly we came upon a clearing and all our hopes shot up. We trudged on as best as we could since the wind was really starting to pick up. We all hoped that maybe we were getting close to some residential area but as we quickly found it we had simply walked into a clearing. You could almost feel all our spirits falling.
Leland and Adriana had stopped so we came to a stop next to them. The guys chatted for a little bit about what direction we should head. So I started walking on. One step too many about 20 feet from the group and I felt like the world was spinning. I think someone screamed. Was that me? When I came to a stop from tumbling down the steep hill I just laid in the snow. Then an intense pain shot through my back and right leg.
"ARIA? ARIA, OH MY GOD!" I heard a deep male voice yell
"Huh?!" I kind of groggily stated
"Oh honey are you ok? That was quite the tumble you took." Tim stated, kneeling down and pulling me into his lap.
"Tim...." I stated suddenly very sleepy
"Stay with me Baby Doll. Where does it hurt?" Tim asked me as he moved hair out of my face and looking over my scrapes and cuts
"Right leg mostly. And my back." I replied as I started getting teary
"Shh, Baby Doll." He told me as Leland and Adriana made their way to where we were at
"Is she ok?" Leland asked his uncle
"I think her right leg is broken and I'm pretty sure she has a concussion." Tim replied
"Brah that's not good out here. We need to find shelter soon. The storm's getting worse." Leland stated
A few minutes later Tim and Leland slowly helped me to a standing position. There was no way I could put any sort of pressure on my right leg. It was going to be even harder now that my leg was all fucked up. We had been walking (or in my case kind of stumbling while hanging on to Tim for dear life) for probably another 2 hours. By then the snow was getting very bad. We were actually having to hold on to one another, all 4 of us, to make sure we stayed together. The wind was horrific too.
"GUYS COME ON! I THINK I SEE SOMETHING!!" Leland yelled to make sure we all heard him
Leland broke away with Adriana so Tim and I had to struggle to keep up. I whimpered but padded on. Nearly in tears I was about to tell Tim to just leave me to die so that he and the others could make it to safety. When Tim and I got close enough to see what Leland was all excited about we got all excited too. Tim ushered me inside.
The cabin we came across had obviously been abandoned a long time ago. There were cobwebs everywhere and probably 2 inches of dust on everything. However there was a nice, big fireplace, 2 decent sized couches, and 2 laz-e-boy chairs. Once we were all safely inside, Leland suggested that he and Tim go find some firewood while Adriana and I got settled. I looked over at Tim with sad eyes. For some reason I didn't want him to go. When he realized I was looking at him, he strolled over.
"Baby Doll it's gonna be ok. We'll be back shortly and then we'll be able to get warm." He quietly told me as he pulled me into a light hug
Adriana and I looked around. She said there was an upstairs so she was going to go check it out. I stayed downstairs afraid of trying to go upstairs. I was inspecting the couches and was pleasantly suprised to discover that they both pulled out into Queen sized beds! When Adriana slowly made her way back downstairs, I was struggling with pulling my couch out into the bed. With her help we got them both set up and ready for the rest of the night.
Maybe 2 or so hours later Tim and Leland returned with a sled of sticks and parts of logs as well as some skinned meat. As Leland was getting a good fire going Tim sat down on the edge of the bed and asked how I was feeling. I shrugged and said my leg was hurting something fierce. He gave me a sweet smile and pulled me into a hug. I snuggled into his embrace. He ran his hand over my back and I yelled in pain.
"What's wrong?" Adriana asked
"Mmmmm my back." I trembled
"Lift your shirt, let me see." Tim instructed
I did as he instructed and then carefully, and slowly, leaned forward so he could see my back.
"Oh my. You've got some serious bruising back here. There might be some internal bleeding." Tim quietly told me
"It hurts." I whispered, fighting back tears
"I know Baby Doll. I didn't mean to hurt you." He whispered in my ear
My heart began to speed up and I didn't know why. He nuzzled his face in my neck which made it very hard for me to breath all of a sudden.
"Hey Youngblood, want to help me with the meat?" Leland called to his uncle
Tim left me to help his nephew and Adriana moved to sit next to me. We talked about our injuries, our situation, her growing infatuation with Leland, what she's observing about Tim, and how I was just feeling with Tim. She told me that my heart began speeding up and I was finding it hard to breath because I was developing feelings for him. I shook my head no remembering my last boyfriend. She told me that I should just let things develope on their own and that if we were meant to be together then so be it.

** ARIA'S POV **
Leland and Tim wanted Adriana and I to eat first. The guys dug in soon after. The fire warmed up the room pretty quickly and we were all intensely thankful. As we ate Leland started asking questions about us. We talked about our families, homes, culture, jobs, and why we were going to Hawaii. It was actually nice to get to know them a little bit better. My friend also mentioned that she found more blankets upstairs that were bigger and thicker. Before long both Adriana and I were quite sleepy. We settled in bed while the guys talked about their homes.....
** TIM'S POV **
Once the girls were asleep Little Dog and I remained silent just to make sure they were in the deep stages of sleep. Maybe an hour had gone by before either of us spoke.
"You realize with Aria having a broken leg will slow us down?" He very quietly stated giving me a sad look
"I know. The bruising on her back is pretty bad. I'm afraid she has some internal bleeding." I confessed
"Brah we gotta find civilization soon or the ladies may not make it home alive." Leland told me
"I.... I can't leave her out here all alone. They're city girls, Little Dog, they'll never make it." I told him, unable to hide the desperation in my voice as I looked down at the sleeping woman curled up to me
"You like her?" Leland questioned
"Well the overwhelming urge to protect her and keep her safe is undeniable." I expertly replied
"I know the feeling." My nephew replied, looking down at the woman in his arms
Aria began whimpering in her sleep so I began to softly stroke her cheek. She settled down and then scooted even closer to me. She was so beautiful, even with the cuts, scrapes, and bruises, and had such a gentle spirit. What sane man wouldn't be attracted to her?!
"What direction do you think we should head to tomorrow? If the storm has let up by then." I questioned
"I don't know, Brah, maybe more south? I'm not sure if any direction is any better than other." He replied quietly
"South sounds good. Think we can fashion something for her leg? Maybe make it easier to walk, or hobble, on?" I asked him
"Tear a shirt, get some good thick sticks and it might work for a while." Leland said after thinking about it for a while
Adriana started making noises so Leland's attention went to her. I looked down to Aria and just watched her sleep. Would we ever see one another once we were rescued? I hoped so! I gently caressed her cheek a little while bringing a subconscious smile to her beautiful face. Smiling myself, I leaned down and kissed her forehead. I was beginning to wonder if we would make it home alive. Apparently Leland was having those doubts too.
"Hey Youngblood?" He very quietly called out
"Yeah Little Dog?" I replied
"Have you been praying?" He questioned
"Every single day. Why?" I answered
"Do you think he'll see us through this?" He questioned
"In the good book he said 'I shall never leave you nor forsake you'. He will not give us more than we can handle. We just have to keep praying and have faith that he knows what he's doing." I told my nephew
"Do you think he put us with these ladies for a reason?" Leland asked, uncertainty in his voice
"Absolutely! Do I know what for? No. Whether it's because they're city girls and probably wouldn't last a day without us out here or because with them here we have a greater purpose to make it to civilization or some other plan, we're together for a reason." I told him after a moment of thought
"Do you think Dad's looking for us?" He asked
"If I know your father then he'll have everyone at the office in snow shoes and skis searching every square inch of land between the Denver and Honolulu airports!" I replied making him chuckle softly
We got quiet again contemplating things. Dog and Beth must be freaking out by now. I wondered if they had people out hunting for us? How weird is that? Normally it's us out hunting people and now, hopefully, we're the ones being hunted! Looking over at Leland I could see he was starting to feel an attraction to Miss Adriana by the way he was looking at her. The gentle way he was stroking her face gave his feelings away too!
I scooted further down in the covers and pulled her as gently as I could closer to me before laying my head down on top of hers to sleep. Sleep didn't come easily for me so I opted to just watch Aria sleeping and pray. It's not that I didn't believe whole-heartedly what I told my nephew. But praying seemed to help ease my mind. As long as I held onto my faith then I had to believe we'd be ok. As tired as I was I just couldn't sleep. I was worried about our situation, this storm, the girls' health, not getting enough to eat.

** ARIA'S POV **
When I awoke I found myself wrapped firmly and protectively in Tim's arms. Everyone else seemed to still be sleeping. I looked up at Tim who looked like he hadn't slept in a long time. There were dark circles under his eyes and dried blood around his head wound. Has he been staying up and keeping watch over us? He has to be so tired! Especially having me leaning on him to walk! It was hard fighting back the tears.
"Shh, Baby Doll, it's gonna be ok." I suddenly heard Tim whisper to me
"Oh! Did I wake you?" I questioned, sniffling slightly
"I was waking already. Why the tears?" He asked me
"It's.... nothing. I'm fine." I replied
"Crying doesn't indicate that you're fine to me, Doll Face." He stated, wiping away a tear that was sliding down my cheek
"You don't.... you look tired." I stated, looking as down as I could considering my position
"I think we all look tired. It's my job to look after everyone." He replied
We stayed silent and before long I drifted off into a shivering slumber. I sort of felt him move me and then the bed move like he had gotten up. Sometime later he returned and laid back down. His touch was so light I barely registered him caressing my cheek.
"Youngblood?" I suddenly heard Leland call out
"Yeah Little Dog?" Tim replied as he gently rubbed my upper back
"The blizzard hasn't gotten any better. We might be here for another day or so." Leland told him
"Well at least we have a warm fire and we're not sleeping on rocks or the cold ground." Tim replied
Does he always see the bright side of things? Taking a deep breath I slowly sat up. Both my back and leg started throbbing but I did my best to ignore the pain. Which, by the way, was NOT an easy thing to do. Adriana started stirring so Leland turned his attention to my friend. Tim sat up and turned his attention to me and the conversation we'd been having. His light blue eyes bore into me with an intensity that I'd never seen before from anyone.
"How are you feeling today?" He questioned
"I hurt." I replied, looking down at my hands
"Well I guess that's to be expected. Just hang on for me, ok? Once this blizzard passes we'll be moving on again." Tim told me, placing his hand on mine
"I can't thank either of you enough..." I trailed, unable to meet his gaze
"Why's that?" Tim asked
"Because we'd never make it out here! We're city girls, ya know? You need to know how to get around New York or Genoa we're your girls. Roughing it out in the woods, we're fucked." I chuckled nervously
He laughed too which oddly made me happy.
"Maybe one day I'll take you up on that. What do you think you ladies will do once we're rescued and out of the hospital?" He asked, a tint of hope and nervousness in his voice
"Well I suppose we'll go on to Hawaii. After this we'll definitely need a vacation!" I chuckled again making him chuckle too
"I know that feeling." Tim replied
He got me talking in more detail about my family and he shared about his. I was almost shocked to discover he had kids! I don't know why, he is 45 after all. I guess I figured him being a bounty hunter wouldn't leave much time for families and the like. I told him about our Italian families but had to leave out some, um, important details. We talked about food, our likes, dislikes, favorite styles, favorite chefs, and he made me promise that if I ever made it to Hawaii that I'd cook for him. I guess it was a mistake to confess that all Italian women know how to cook, from an early age!
I made him promise to teach me to scuba dive. We talked about that and other water sports. He even said that he'd take us to see some of the reefs that are "absolutely magnificent", according to him. Adriana's coughing made us both look to where she sat with Leland. He looked over at his uncle and gave him a look that said they'd had a conversation about this previously. It broke me to see her coughing so hard and absolutely terrified me to see that she was coughing up blood. She leaned over Leland to vomit into a bucket that I don't remember being there last night.
I had to bury my face in the crook of Tim's neck because I couldn't watch my friend any longer. He gently wrapped me up in his arms and scooted closer to me. Now I was really fearful my friend was going to die. Hell I hadn't realized I was shaking so badly until Leland asked if I was ok. Tim said I'd be fine and to just look after Adriana. Tim moved us so that we were laying back down again.
"Shhh, we'll get through this. It'll be ok Baby Doll." Tim quietly stated as he rubbed my back
"She's coughing up blood!" I stated, unable to keep the tears from falling
"I know Doll Face, I know. Hopefully this storm will pass so we can move on tomorrow morning. We'll get you both to a hospital as soon as we can. I promise." He told me

Aria had to bury her face in the crook of me neck because she just couldn't watch her friend any longer. I gently wrapped her up in my arms and scooted closer to her. "Shhh, we'll get through this. It'll be ok Baby Doll." I quietly stated as I rubbed her back, being careful of the tender spots on her lower back
"She's coughing up blood!" She stated, unable to keep the tears from falling
"I know Doll Face, I know. Hopefully this storm will pass so we can move on tomorrow morning. We'll get you both to a hospital as soon as we can. I promise." I told her
Aria finally cried herself to sleep. I looked over at Little Dog to see him gently caressing a sleeping Adriana's face. He finally looked up at me with sad eyes. He was definitely feeling a connection to her and now he's extremely worried about the state of her health. Of course Aria and I are too! Little Dog and remained silent until we were sure the girls were in the deep stage of sleep.
"Brah...." Leland started out
"I know Little Dog. We need to keep moving. There's always a chance we'll run into civilization. We won't if we stay here." I told my nephew
"I know. I just.... seeing her coughing up blood...... it's not good, Brah.
Something's seriously wrong. I don't know if I can....." He trailed
"I understand. You're becoming attached to the young lady. It's all but killing Aria seeing her friend like this. I feel so helpless because there's nothing I can do for either of them." I confessed
"Exactly! I didn't feel this strongly this quickly about Maui or Lynnette." Leland told me
"All we can do is keep them safe and find civilization as quickly as we and keep praying. God has brought them into our lives for a purpose." I told him
"I just.... I don't know." Leland replied, running his hand through his long black hair, "I guess I'm afraid of her dieing."
"All we can do is keep them safe, keep moving, and keep praying. Succumbing to fear only leads to doubt which leads to questioning your every move which leads to utter madnes." I told my nephew
We got quiet again. Before long the sounds of Leland snoring could be heard. Something kept me awake, keeping watch. I was on high alert, continuously looking over to Little Dog and Adriana and then down to my Aria. I was feeling anxious, like something was about to happen. I was starting to calm myself down and slowly drift into sleep when I heard it. The sounds of a very large black bear. He apparently got a whiff of our scent! Before I could say anything the bear broke through the door!
"LELE BEAR!" I yelled, pulling Aria up with me
"What's..." She groggily stated before hearing the bear roar
She screamed in fear. Leland threw something at the bear while Aria somehow grabbed our blankets. The bear swatted at me, cutting my right arm pretty badly. Leland got the girls, and thankfully the blankets, out while I tried to defend myself while inching around the room to get out. For a few long minutes I thought this was how I was going to die! Someone yanked me to the left as soon as I was by the hole where the front door used to be. We ran, or hobbled in Aria's case, as quickly as we could. It was still snowing like a son of a bitch. My arm hurt, my heart was racing, and I was deeply worried about the girls.
I had to pick up Aria in my arms so we could run a bit faster. She wrapped our blankets around us to try and keep us warm while I did my best to follow Leland. The snow and wind was almost blinding. I could hear the bear in the distance but for now it seems he has lost interest. We walked until poor Adriana literally collapsed on the ground coughing, spitting blood, and crying. Leland picked her up bridal style, much like I had Aria, and trudged along.
What seemed like forever we came upon some trees that apparently had been blown down. They were sitting kind of weird, sheltering the middle from the wind and snow. We headed straight for it to check it out. The middle space was actually big and we thought we might actually be able to make a fire, despite being surrounded by tree trunks. Setting the girls down, we immediately took a quick rest to regroup.
The girls were cold and frightened. Aria wouldn't let me go for anything. It made me feel..... good.... that she needed me. I wrapped my arms around her and pulled her as close as I could get her. Once we'd rested a little while, Leland suggested the girls try to pack the snow down so that it was firmer while we went to find some sticks and twigs to make a fire with. Aria still didn't want to let me go but I promised her we'd be back as quickly as we could. I ran my hand down her cheek and over her lips before standing up and nodding to my nephew.

** LELAND'S POV **
"Brah...." I started out
"I know Little Dog. We need to keep moving. There's always a chance we'll run into civilization. We won't if we stay here." My uncle told me
"I know. I just.... seeing her coughing up blood...... it's not good, Brah. Something's seriously wrong. I don't know if I can....." I trailed
"I understand. You're becoming attached to the young lady. It's all but killing Aria seeing her friend like this. I feel so helpless because there's nothing I can do for either of them." Tim confessed
"Exactly! I didn't feel this strongly this quickly about Maui or Lynnette." For some reason I told him
"All we can do is keep them safe and find civilization as quickly as we and keep praying. God has brought them into our lives for a purpose." He told me
"I just.... I don't know." I replied, running my hand through my long black hair , "I guess I'm afraid of her dieing."
"All we can do is keep them safe, keep moving, and keep praying. Succumbing to fear only leads to doubt which leads to questioning your every move which leads to utter madnes." He explained
We got quiet again. Before long I fell asleep.
"LELE BEAR!" I suddenly heard Tim yell who was pulling Aria up with him
"What's..." She groggily stated before we all heard the bear roar
She screamed in fear. I threw Adriana's puke bucket at the bear while Aria somehow grabbed their blankets. The bear swatted at Tim, cutting his right arm pretty badly. I got the girls, and thankfully the blankets, out while Tim tried to defend himself while inching around the room to get out. For a few long minutes I thought this was how Tim was going to die! As soon as Tim was by the hole where the front door used to be I yanked him away. We ran, or hobbled in Aria's case, as quickly as we could. It was still snowing like a son of a bitch. My heart was racing, I was scared we'd lose our way in this storm, and I was deeply worried about the girls.
Tim had to pick up Aria in his arms so we could run a bit faster. She wrapped their blankets around them to try and keep us warm while he did my best to follow me. I tried to run as fast as I could while holding Adriana's hand and make sure Tim could still see me! The snow and wind was almost blinding. I could hear the bear in the distance but for now it seems he has lost interest. We walked until poor Adriana literally collapsed on the ground coughing, spitting blood, and crying. The sight was enough to almost give up and lay down with her and just let death come. Instead, I picked her up bridal style, much like Tim had Aria, and trudged along.
Aria wouldn't let my uncle go for anything. I'm sure it made him feel..... good.... that she needed him. He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her as close as he could get her. Once we'd rested a little while, I suggested the girls try to pack the snow down so that it was firmer while we went to find some sticks and twigs to make a fire with. Aria still didn't want to let him go but he promised her we'd be back as quickly as we could. He ran his hand down her cheek and over her lips before standing up and nodding to me. Adriana held tightly onto my hand so I knelt down and promised we'd be careful and that we'd build a nice fire when we returned.
Tim and I left the safety of the wooded shelter to find what we needed. We'd left our sled with the house and bear. Unfortunately we had to dig through the snow to find sticks, twigs, and rocks to use for the fire. It hit me that as it continues to snow like this, it will start getting harder and harder to get the materials to build a fire. That bothered me greatly. If we couldn't build fires to get warm, even temporarily, then surely we'd begin to suffer from Hypothermia and then probably die.
It took us alot longer than we figured but we finally got enough materials to make, and keep, the fire going all night. We trudged through the thickening snow back to our shelter. Adriana and Aria had done a pretty good job of packing down the snow in the secluded spot we found ourselves in. Tim, once Aria had let him go, decided to pack it down a little more just to make sure it was packed tight. Adriana had pulled me down to where she was sitting and buried her face in the crook of my neck. With everything so quiet I could hear her wheezing and raspy breath. I was quite sure she had Pneumonia by this point.
Adriana finally let me go long enough to set the rocks into a circle to contain the fire. Tim had to set the twigs and sticks and 1 of the few logs in the center and got it going. Thank goodness we're smokers! Once we got the fire going, the girls all but refused to let us go. Things were getting dire and I wasn't sure how much longer we'd be able to survive out here. We weren't seeing many small animals or animal tracks so hunting them for food was beginning to not be an option anymore. The snow had covered up any berries the forest might produce.
"Leland I'm so tired..." Adriana quietly stated before having a coughing fit
"I know Beautiful. We're all tired and hungry and cold. Shhh, it's ok." I told her as I rubbed her back
"I...." She started
"Shh, don't talk honey. You just rest." I told her, pulling her as close to me as I could and wrapping her up in my arms
Tim got up and spread a couple of blankets on the packed snow. He asked Aria to lay down, which she immediately complied, and then laid down next to her. He wrapped their remainging blankets around them. I could barely hear them talking so I decided that perhaps it would be better for us to sit up a while and talk too. Afterall there isn't much else for us to do and it's better to chat about things we like and that make us happy instead of dwelling on our situation and worries. I grabbed our blankets and wrapped us up in them. She was sniffling so I turned her face towards me and gently wiped her beautiful face of tears with my thumbs.
