I was walking along the beach, wearing: . I stopped by this large group, apparently a large family, who seemed to be having a wonderful day together. I began watching this tall, very muscular, tattooed guy with 2 young boys as they made a Sand Castle together. Instinctively, my hand began rubbing my belly. He looked up and our eyes locked for a moment before I continued my walk down the beach.
Seeing the happy family made me sad and angry all at the same time. If my life had turned out the way "God" intended, I'd have a family like them. But no, God hates me and enjoys tormenting me. Started to feel tired again, I turned around to walk back to the hotel I was staying at. I slowed my pace when I came to where the family was still at. Clouds had started forming, threatening to burst open any moment. I couldn't help but watch the guy I'd locked eyes with earlier as he played with one of the little boys.
"Daddy!!!!! Stop.. it!!" He laughed, as Mr. Tall-and-Muscular tickled him
So the boys were his children. Where's his wife? Was he divorced? Hell, was he even single? I shook my head trying to get these thoughts out of my head as I walked by them. I felt eyes upon me, but refused to acknowledge it or try to find who was staring at me. It was going to rain soon and I didn't want to get caught up in it.
**DL'S POV**
"DL? I want you to follow that young woman. See where she goes." Beth suddenly asked me
"Ok... any particular reason why?" I asked, not questioning her authority
"I just have a feeling about her, that's all DL." She said
I grabbed my towel and began to follow the woman Beth had pointed out. What about her grabbed Beth's attention so? Was she a bounty? My curiosities faded as I studied her. She was a petit little thing, about 5' or so, long black straight hair that stopped about 3 inches from her perfectly round ass. I could tell she had a few tattoos but at the distance I was keeping from her, I couldn't rightly make them out. She seemed to have a nicely curvacious body.
The more I watched her, the more I seemed to notice little things about her. She walked as though the weight of the world was on her shoulders. What could such a young, pretty thing like her be burdened with? We had been walking about 20 minutes up the beach to the "lower end" hotels. Cheap, hotels on the beach. Usually "not-so-well-off" folks, druggies, and cheaters stayed at these hotels. She didn't seem like a druggie, to me. I watched, and followed as closely as I could, to see what hotel she went to and which room she was staying in.
I typed in her info into the note feature of my cell before calling Beth to come pick me up. I walked around to the fron as the rain started coming down pretty hard. My mind kept drifting back to the young girl and what exactly her deal was. Beth, Leland, and Tim pulled up a few minutes later. I quickly climbed into the back with my brother.
"What did you find out?" Beth asked
"She's in room 231 of this hotel. She didn't talk to anyone and seems to be either depressed or burdened by something." I said, making Beth nod her head
"Thank you DL." She simply said before pulling out of the parking lot
**YOUR POV**
I moved around alot, mostly running from my past. I don't usually stay too long in places. Hawaii may be the first time I've actually thought about "settling down". I only have 4 months left until the baby comes. I need to find a job, set some money aside for baby things. There just aren't people who are willing to take a chance on someone who hasn't had the same address for the extended amount of time they require, or a work-history outside the military. I seemed to be stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Stripping myself of my clothes, I turned on the shower and hopped in. My back was hurting and all the walking I had done today really wore me out. I laid down on the lumpy and not-so-comfortable bed and turned on the TV. Flipping through channels, I began to hear my tummy making noises. Sighing, I got up, slipped into: , , and . I grabbed my wallet and room key, slipped them into my pocket, and shut my door. I couldn't help but feel like I was being watched, but shrugged it off. There was a Taco Bell about a block up the street, which is where I've been getting most of my meals.
Upon arriving, I noticed a large group of guys that didn't seem to be too friendly. I kept my distance from them as best I could. I ordered, got my drink, and awaited my food to arrive. Hastily grabbing my bag, I wanted to leave the restaraunt as quickly as I could. I suddenly sensed an overwhelming feeling of danger and was more than eager to get back to the relative safety of my room. I was more than grateful that it had stopped raining long enough for me to get to Taco Bell and back to the hotel. Almost as soon as I'd made it to my door, the downpour began again.
I ate my meager dinner to 'Batman' with Michael Keaton before curling up under the ratty covers for the night. The last thing I remembered before falling asleep was 'The Nightmare Before Christmas'. The sunlight beaming into my eyes awoke me. I grumbled as I turned over, not wanting to get up. I stayed in bed almost all day until mid-evening I decided to dress in what I had the night before and walk to Taco Bell for dinner. The same overwhelming feeling of danger gripped me like a fog. My heart started racing and I'm sure I started sweating. I noticed a group of strapping young lads walking around the hotel that was between mine and the Taco Bell.
They looked like Police Officers with the protective vests they were wearing and their radios. If I wasn't mistaken, I could have sworn one of them looked like Mr. Tall-and-Muscular. For some reason he looked in my direction and our eyes locked again for a brief moment. I quickly looked away and quickened my pace to my destination. Having ordered, filled my cup, and gotten my food, I was on my way back to my hotel. Less than 2 minutes from my door, I felt someone grab me from behind. With my heart, which felt like it was beating out of my chest, I heard a deep voice ask for my wallet. I shakily gave it to him before I felt a sudden, sharp pain in my right side.
The guy took off as both my hands went to where my pain was radiating from. Drawing my hands back, I discovered they were covered in blood---- my blood! I started walking back to where I saw the guys and couldn't find their vehicles. I thought I was going to die!! Hearing some loud shouting, I looked to my left, across the street, and saw the group I was looking for. Surely if they were cops, they could help me! I stumbled across the road, suddenly feeling very light-headed and dizzy. I was mumbling something, which even I couldn't tell you what it was, before running into the side of a truck.
I remember looking into those dark, mysterious eyes before I guess passing out. When I woke up, I was in a moving vehicle and was being cradled in someone's arms.
"Preg.... pregnant." I finally managed to say, weakly
"Miss? You're pregnant?" I heard a deep voice ask
Looking to see where the voice had come from, I found myself staring back into those dark eyes again
"Y...... yes..........5 months" I said, before passing out once more.
A/N: Sorry if this was kinda crappy... updating WAGW, writing this, and it's pretty late here ; ; This is the first time I've tried writing about a Movie/TV show, so please bear with me.... Anyways, I hope you liked the first chapter..... not sure where I'm gonna go with it, how long it'll be, or how often I'll update it though. Thanx for reading and ENJOY ^_^

**LELAND'S POV** We were busting a perp when I noticed the same woman walking down the road tha tI'd seen on the beach. The very same woman whom Beth had my brother follow earlier today. She seemed to watch us intently as she walked past us, making me temporarily lose my concentration. Tim waved his hand in front of my face, bringing me out of my thoughts. As we were packing up our stuff from the bust, I saw the young woman walking back towards her hotel, Taco Bell bag in her hand. She eyed us uspiciously before hanging her head down, seemingly lost in thought. I lost sight of her for a bit. DL and Tim were being loud, as usual, and making me a bit irritated. Something suddenly made me look to see the young woman stumbling across the street, towards us. She seemed a bit paler than she had a few moments ago, but under the moonlight, I couldn't rightly tell. She was mumbling something, which I couldn't tell what it was, before running into the side of our truck. She looked into my eyes before she passed out. When she woke up, she didn't seem to know where she was. "Preg.... pregnant." She finally managed to weakly say, "Miss? You're pregnant?" I asked Looking to see where the voice had come from, she stared back into my eyes again "Y...... yes..........5 months" She said, before passing out once more. "TIM!!! This girl's pregnant!!" I said, panic starting to take over "Pregnant? This isn't good, Brah." He said, speeding up "I've already called Dad. He said everyone was meeting us at the hospital." My brother said Not that it made me feel any better. There was a pregnant woman in my arms, bleeding badly from her side. Did they realize this could be life or death for her child? I snapped my head up when I felt the truck come to a sudden stop. DL opened my door for me as I climbed out, still cradling the woman in my arms. Tim ran inside to get a nurse. My heart was racing and I knew that I would be covered in her blood but I didn't care. A gurney was waiting for us as the Doctor's raced her to the OR. I was left standing there, looking confused, scared, and nervous, and sorta wet. I felt a hand on my shoulder and looked to see my Dad standing next to me. "Leland, do we know anything about her?" Beth asked, appearing out of nowhere "She's..... she's 5 months pregnant." I quietly said, fearing for her and the baby's life "PREGNANT??" Beth said, a little shocked, eyes going wide "Yes, that's what she told me before she passed out in the truck." I replied, feeling the tears start to sting my eyes We sat down for the long wait to see how she was doing. I could feel my whole body shaking as my thoughts turned to her, her baby, and what her story was. Was she married? Running from someone? Had she been raped? Did she know who the father was? I was brought out of these thoughts by Tim. "I'm gonna go to your place, Leland and get you some clean clothes. I'm sure you'd be glad to get out of the ones covered in blood." He said, smiling sadly at me "Covered in blood? Why are you covered in blood?" Beth asked DL told her what had happened. After an hour, I had begun to pace around the room. Teresa had arrived to lend her support as well. 45 minutes after I'd started wearing a path in the dull, gray carpet, a Doctor came out. He asked who had brought her in, which my hand immediately shot up in the air. My heart began racing as I walked with him to her room. "Mr. Chapman, I don't know what that young woman has been through. I realize you only found her." The Doc began "Is she going to be ok? The only thing she told me on the way here was that she was 5 months pregnant." I said, staring at the woman who had all sorts of IV's and tubes in her "She's malnourished, which is not good for the baby. She was stabbed in the side, which already looks like it's getting infected. She was damn lucky, Mr. Chapman, it missed everything. She's going to recover from the stabbing, but she desperately needs to see an OBGYN." He said, looking over her chart "Thank you. Can she be released into my care?" I questioned "I don't see why not. The girl doesn't appear to have any family. Not here anyways." He replied, smiling at me "Thank you, Doc. I'll make damn sure she gets the medical care she needs." I said, "Oh!! What about the baby??" "I'm not an OBGYN, but as far I can tell the stabbing hasn't had any major adverse affects on her. Let me stress that she needs to be seen IMMEDIATELY, however." He replied I felt an immediately sense of relief wash over me. She was going to be ok, as far as that could be told anyway. I walked back out into the waiting room, and was greeted by very expectant faces. I told them what the Doc had told me. Everyone seemed to relax a bit knowing she was going to be ok. I told Beth and Dad that I'd asked the Doc to release her into my care. Beht said she thought it was a good idea and that she'd help me get her set up with her OBGYN as soon as she was able to leave the hospital. I thanked her before bringing her and Dad back to see her. A/N: Thanx for reading and ENJOY ^_^

**LELAND'S POV** I opted to stay at the hospital with the unknown young woman, in case she woke up. Beth said she'd send Lyssa or Teresa around tomorrow to bring me breakfast and Dad gave me a couple days off. Sudden hustle and bustle startled me and I quickly awoke from the sleep that somehow had over-taken me when I wasn't looking. There were several nurses doing things to the young woman and then an older doctor came rushing in. Throwing the covers off me, I raced to as close as I could get to her. "Sir, step back!" A plump, middle-aged nurse told me I couldn't move, I wanted to see what they were doing to her! "SIR! If you want us to save your wife, you need to back up and let us do our job!" She said, giving me a sympathetic look Sighing dejectedly, I moved back and let them do what they were trained to do. They rolled her bed out of the room in a rush, leaving me standing there looking and feeling stupid. I finally sat back down not knowing what exactly to do. A short time later, the same older doctor came in. My heart started beating wildly in my chest and it felt like it was about to beat straight out of my chest. "Mr. Chapman, we need to have a chat." He said, sitting on the extra chair "What's going on? Why'd they take her away?" I asked, silently wondering if the doctor could hear my chest "We thought the baby hadn't suffered any trauma. The baby was under distress. We're having to do a Caesarean Section to get the baby out." He told me "Is the baby going to be alright? What about her? Is she..." I started "The baby will be put into an incubator since he/she is premature. I don't foresee any complications though. As for the young lady, she's slipped into a shock-induced coma." He told me "A coma! Do you think she'll recover?" I questioned "I think it's her body's way of making her rest. I believe that as soon as her body has had enough time to heal, she'll wake up." He replied, staring at me to gauge my reaction "What's going to happen to the baby?" I inquired "Well, it's not fully developed yet. He or she will have to stay here until it can breath and eat on its own and is holding a steady temperature. For some babies, that could be anywhere from a few days to a few months to when it should have been born." He explained "Will I have access to her and the baby? I was the one who found her, but we really have no relation....." I stumbled "Yes. As far as we know she has no other family. I'll put on her paperwork that you are her family. I'll have her nurse bring you a wristband so that you may come and go as you please. You should be able to see the baby in about an hour or so. She will be brought back here when she's out of surgery and stable." He said, standing up "Thank you, Sir." I said, standing up and shaking his hand He left me to go check on the young woman. They were delivering the baby. I needed to call Beth. Perhaps she knew more about this procedure. I didn't quite understand why she had slipped into a coma, though. Was something more wrong with her than what they were telling me or was it an unknown condition? My mind was racing when the nurse came in to place a plastic wristband on me with her information. I smiled at her before getting up and heading outside to call Beth. I headed back up to her room after making my phone call. She said her and Lyssa would be on their way. I stopped off at the cafeteria for a cup of coffee. By the time I made it back up to her room, the nurses were wheeling her back into her room. One of the nurses told me that the baby was in the Neo-Natal ICU and that I could go and see her. I stood there as her words sunk in: 'go and see her'. She had had a baby girl!? Making sure that she was ok, I headed off to see the baby girl. When I arrived it almost broke my heart. The tiniest baby in the whole nursery had some of the tiniest tubes going down her nose, her throat and she had IV's in her tiny little arms as well. The nurse was taking her vitals when another nurse asked me what her name was. Telling her the situation with her mother, she said that it was up to me to name the child. Naturally, I was terrified of what her mother would say about me naming her. "Sir, we really need a name for the baby. I realize the situation you're in and believe me I sympathize with you." She said, giving me a soft smile "Dear God, please don't let her be mad at me for what I name her child." I said "Ok Sir, I'll give you a few minutes to think over the child's name" She said, leaving me to staring at the tiny, fragile life before me "Hey Leland. Is this the child?" I heard Beth say from behind me "Yeah. Why do they have her in the Incubator?" I asked, turning to my sister and Step-Mother "Well, it's because she hasn't had the time to develop. She's 4 months early, so that's 4 months of development she hasn't had the chance to do. They keep the baby in the Incubator to help them finish the development process." She patiently told me "They want me to name the baby." I quietly said "Oh? What are you going to name her?" Lyssa asked, taking pictures of the newborn "Kiana Mackenzie Chapman." I suddenly said "That's so pretty, Lele!!" Lyssa said, smiling at me "Sir? Is that the name you want for the baby? Kiana Mackenzie Chapman?" The nurse asked me "Yes. I guess we're gonna make this child a Chapman!!" I nervously said I took Lyssa and Beth back to her room. I still didn't know her name or her story but I desperately wanted to know at least her name. I guess Beth was thinking along those same lines, because she suddenly said that she was going to ask one of her Police Officer friends tomorrow if they could finger print her and see if they could get her name. Lyssa then suggested we check with the hotel manager of where she's staying to get her name or into her room. I thought it was a pretty good idea. Beth said she'd stay up and keep watch over the young woman if I wanted to sleep. But I couldn't. I opted to keep watch over the little girl. I found myself getting attached to her already. She was adorable, despite her rocky start to life. Sometime around 7am, the nurse came in and asked if I wanted to feed her. Smiling, I let her lead me into the Neo-Natal ICU and handed me a 2oz bottle. I was holding the bottle with my left hand and she had a hold of my pinky finger of my right hand with her teeny, tiny little fist. I heard a quiet knock on the glass so I looked up. DL, Teresa, Dad, and Youngblood were all standing there, beaming at the newest member of our ever-growing family. I smiled at them as I fed Kiana. After her feeding, the nurse needed to take her vitals again, so I was led out into the hallway. DL wrapped one arm around my shoulder and gave it a light squeeze. Dad asked how the young woman was and how the baby was doing. I gave them a full update and what Beth and Lyssa and I had discussed. Tim said he'd get on checking around her hotel to see what he could dig up for me. I thanked him before turning back to the tiny life in the incubator. A/N: Thanx for reading and ENJOY ^_^

**LELAND'S POV** It had been 3 long months. I put Kiana on my insurance and decorated a room at my house for her. I told my boys about her, making sure they knew I still loved them as much as I always have. I have been spending practically every day at the hospital. Tim lucked out at the young woman's hotel with the hotel manager. He let Tim in who found her ID, but no wallet. He packed up all her things, which weren't alot, and brought them to my house. Having her identity, we found out some of her story. I felt that there was more to it than what we currently knew but at least it was a start. Her name was Lilia and she was 25 years old. She had a very rocky life and seemingly no one to depend on or turn to. I felt bad for her. I had made up my mind that I wanted to help her any way I could. I asked Tim to take my credit card and pay off her hotel bill the day he brought her things to my house. Every day when I came to visit, I talked to her like we were old friends, calling her by her name. Kiana had been released from the hospital last week and either Lyssa or one of our other office assistants, Maria, watched her while I was at work. I brought Kiana with me to the hospital as often as I could. Naturally the entire family had to spoil her rotten. Dakota and Cobie both took to her pretty well after I reassured them that I still loved them and that they could never be replaced. They even came to the hospital to visit her a few time before she'd been released. I had just gotten off work, made sure Kiana had enough formula & diapers since Dad and Beth offered to take her for the night, and was heading straight to the hospital. I had put up pictures of Kiana around her room that I had had taken. I had even stopped at the hospital gift shop to pick up some fresh flowers for Lilia. Upon entering her room, I replaced the old flowers with the new and put up the latest picture I had of Kiana. I had just sat down, coffee cup in hand, when I heard a muffled noise. Turning to look at Lilia, I saw that it was her making the noises. I pressed the call button and took ahold of her hand. My heart started racing and I seemed to be filled with hope. The nurse came rushing in, taking vitals. Lilia was mumbling something incoherently. Her grip on my hand was pretty tight, although I doubt she knew who I was. The nurse paged the Doctor. The nurse told me to talk to her, saying that it might help her mind a bit. I told her about my day, the perp that we had caught, how Kiana was doing, and how my family couldn't wait to properly introduce themselves to her. The doctor came in and before long they took her to run some tests. I took the opportunity to go outside and call Dad. I'm sure they would want to be here if she's waking up!! Sure enough, 20 minutes later they arrive, without Kiana, with Tim, Davina, and DL. I told them what was going on, which seemed to be an encouraging sign. I walked them up to Lilia's room so we could wait. It was another hour before she was wheeled back into her room with the doctor. "Mr. Chapman, we've got some good news." He said, looking at me and smiling "Please tell me there's no brain damage or anything serious." I said, fear about the true nature of her condition started to consume me "She's going to make a full recovery. Her body has had the time it needed to heal. She'll probably be well enough to be released either tomorrow or the day after. I'll be releasing her into your care." He said, looking over her chart again "Is she sleeping again?" Dad asked "We had to give her a mild sedative earlier because one of our tests spooked her something fierce. She should be awaking from that in half an hour or so." He said, making notes in her chart before leaving us alone "That's the best news we've had in some time!!" Lyssa exclaimed, looking down at the broken young woman before us "I wonder...... do you think she'll..... I mean what if...." I stumbled over my words "Son, I think God has led her to us. I believe that she'll decided to stay with us." Dad told me, giving my shoulder a light squeeze "What if she doesn't like the name I've given her child? What if she doesn't like us raising her child these past few months?" I asked, feeling the hot tears stinging my eyes "Leland.......... you're working yourself up. I'm sure that she'll be grateful a decent, hard-working young man like has taken such good care of her child." Beth reassured em "I hope you're right." I said, eyes turning back to the pale, fragile woman in bed A/N: I'm so sorry this is sooooooo short. It's past 1am here and I had class this evening. Thanx for reading and ENJOY ^_^
