“Tru you should check this out,” said Zena as she handed her best friend the paper. There was an ad for a nanny job. Tru had been looking for a new job for months as she hated the one she was in. “Cool thanks, it’s not that far away I could walk to work every day,” said Tru as she lit a cigarette and offered Zena and Natalie one. “You should go for it,” said Natalie reassuring their friend.
“Thanks I think I will, they are offering very good pay,” said Tru as she lifted the phone and dialled the number. “Chapman residence, Lyssa speaking,” said baby Lyssa as she answered the phone; it was then that Tru realized that the Chapman’s were looking for a new nanny. Tia their current nanny had been arrested for possession and had drugs in her system. She knew this as Tia’s mother had come round in tears.
“I’m ringing about the nanny job I saw in the paper,” said Tru when she realized that baby Lyssa was waiting for her to speak. “I’ll get Beth for you....What’s your name?” asked baby Lyssa as she motioned for Beth to come over. “Tru Hardy,” replied Tru as she smiled at her friends and waited for the reaction as most people knew her as Matt and Jeff’s little sister.“Are you Matt and Jeff’s little sister?” asked baby Lyssa as Beth waited patiently for the phone. “Yeah that’s me,” said Tru giggling as Zena and Natalie rolled their eyes, they knew the question had been asked. “Here’s Beth for you, hope you get the job,” said baby Lyssa before she handed the phone to Beth.
“Hi there Beth Chapman here, how can I help?” asked Beth as she sat down on the stool. “My name is Tru Hardy, I saw your ad for a nanny in the paper and wanted to apply,” said Tru as she crossed her fingers. She really wanted out of her current job as her ex worked along with her and was constantly annoying her. “Would you like to come round for an interview this evening when we are home?” asked Beth liking the sound of the young girl.“Yeah, I’m free what time would you like me to come round?” asked Tru as she smiled, she felt good about this. “Say eightish, you can have dinner with us,” said Beth as she looked at Dog who nodded. “Sounds great, I’ll see you then, bye for now,” said Tru before hanging up the phone.
She was planning on going to get a blood test to show the Chapman’s she wasn’t on drugs.“Well?” asked Zena once Tru got off the phone. “I have an interview tonight I didn’t realize it was the Chapman’s until baby Lyssa answered the phone,” said Tru smiling. She had seen the Chapman’s round the area looking for fugitives. She fancied Dog’s son Leland and would like to work with him.“That’s great, you’ll nail the interview then you can get away from Andrew,” said Natalie smiling as Tru grinned. She hated being where she was as Andrew bugged her every chance he got and wouldn’t take no for an answer. He had even dragged her into the store one day and raped her.
She had never told anyone about that except her best friends.“Time to hit the shops for a new outfit then,” said Zena who loved to shop. “Then I want to go to the hospital and get blood taken for a drugs test,” said Tru as the others nodded, they all knew the reason why Tia had been fired. “Well let’s get ready and go,” said Zena looking forward to a day of shopping. “Have you not got work?” asked Tru as she headed into the bathroom. “Nope we’re off,” they replied together. An hour later they were ready to head to the shops. They spent all morning looking for an outfit for Tru’s interview. She eventually settled for a pair of smart jeans and a blouse. “Want some lunch?” asked Natalie as they walked past Taco Bell.

“Sure thing, my treat,” said Tru as they headed into the shop.As they walked in Tru’s jaw dropped. Sitting in front of her was Beth Chapman, baby Lyssa and the rest of the crew. “Beth that’s Tru Hardy, the girl that was on the phone this morning,” whispered baby Lyssa as Tru joined the queue. Lyssa recognised her as she was a big Hardy fan and Tru was involved in the DVD that her brothers had out.Beth waved them over once they had ordered. “Howz it grab a seat girls so we can get to know each other,” said Beth as Leland, Youngblood and Dog all moved round to make room for them. “How bout we have a quick chat now and see how we get on,” said Beth who wanted to find a nanny as soon as possible as they needed to go on a bust that night and had no one to watch the children.
“Sounds good to me,” said Tru as Beth grinned she liked the young girl already. “What experience do you have with children?” asked Beth starting the interview. “I’ve had eight years experience, six years in a nursery and two years as a nanny,” said Tru thinking back fondly on the children she used to look after.“What made you want to look for a new job?” asked Beth asking the question that Tru was dreading but had an answer ready for. “I moved from North Carolina to Hawaii and need somewhere to work doing what I love though I love where I am working at the minute,” said Tru not wanting to bring up the reason for the move.
“What ages have you had experience with?” asked Beth she liked this girl more and more. “I have experience with all ages and I love doing activities that include all the children,” said Tru smiling. “When can you start?” asked Beth smiling, she knew this was the right girl for her. “Whenever you need me to,” said Tru smiling, she was pleased to have gotten the job. “I know its short notice but could you start tonight? We have to go on a bounty,” said Beth as she crossed her fingers. “Course I can,” said Tru smiling as Beth grinned; she knew this was going to work well. “Great you know where we live could you come round for about 8pm so you can meet the kids before they go to bed?” asked Beth as she and the rest of the crew got up and left. “Sure thing see you then,” replied Tru smiling.
“Way to go you got the job and without a drug screen,” said Natalie smiling as she high fived her friend. “Yeah I can’t believe it, no more looking at Andrew every day of the week,” exclaimed Tru happily as she realized that small fact, only thing was he knew where she lived.“You got your wish you’ll be able to see Leland as often as you want,” said Zena teasing her friend as Tru’s face went red. “Stop that,” said Tru as she threw out her rubbish and headed outside for a smoke. At 7pm that night there was a knock on the front door and Leland ran to answer it. “Thought I would get here early and let you get after your guy,” said Tru as Leland let her in and Daune-Lee appeared. “That’s great he’s proving very hard to find,” said Leland as he smiled shyly at her.
Daune-Lee picked up on the smile and guessed his brother liked her but he would tease him about it later.“Tru you’re here, that’s great and early too that’s even better, wanna meet the kids?” asked Beth as she appeared from the kitchen smiling. She was hoping that the young girl was going to be early so they could get away on time. “Yeah I’ve been looking forward to meeting the kids,” said Tru as she followed Beth into the kitchen. “Kids I want you to meet my children Garry Boy, Bonnie-Jo and Cecily, my grandson Travis and my granddaughter Abbie,” said Beth as each child waved at the sound of their name. “It’s good to meet you kids I was thinking movies and popcorn,” said Tru as she produced a couple of DVD’s and popcorn from her bag and the kids cheered.
