I;m used to writing in 3rd for journalism, So first person is kinda weird but I know that people relate to it better to it
as for detail I think that only the important stuff counts, but it might be cause I;m lazy too

i've never written in first person before my fics here so it's a little weird and i'm still a tiny bit uncomfortable... i feel like i write better in third but i'll get used to first some day lol as for detail... it depends on my mood. if i'm really in to the part that i'm writing then i'll go in to detail but a lot of times i get excited and rush everything that happens so i skip most of the details, haha

Depending on the story line, which person I write in tends to change - I don't really have a favourite.
I'm a bit of a sucker for detail, I wasn't really much of a writer until I came across the gothic genre at which point I fell in love with how easy it was to visualise the settings and characters. Mentioning characters - I love exploring psyche (the deeper and more complex the beter) and writing clinically insane characters is hard for me to resist. Emotion is such a huge part of people that I just have to write and explore them.

I don't have a preferred person to write in, it really depends on the story and what I want to get across.
I have a huge problem with 3rd person and that is switching povs within third person view, and also whether it should be in third person limited, or third person omniscient. It's a tough balance.
If you read my fics, you also might notice that I don't mention the weather alot, or even details of surroundings. That's because a lot of my fics are character driven. Rather than driven by the settings. It often creates a little confusion, at least to me. I'm not sure what my readers think though.

I normally prefer to write in 1st person. It helps me get into the writing a little more.
As for details, it depends. If it's something that I know will probably not come up again but is still important then I'll give background info. But usually I like hiding stuff in there for the reader to find.

First person, definitely. Some of my best stuff has been penned when I assume the identity of the character, such as writing as if I'm Joey Jordison. Sadly, the bodies of work that I've written that best showcase this can't be posted here, as there aren't any sub-boards for Judas Priest or Duran Duran!
As for detail, it's hit or miss with me. I can over do it or not provide enough. I strive for balance....

I think "The Price of Love" Would make a good title, it's an eye catcher.

Im good with anything but second person I HATE SECOND PERSON! IT'S UNBAREABLE!!

I prefer to write in 3rd person unlimited (I think that's what they call it) so that I can dip in and out of every character's viewpoint and not just stick to one. Of course, to change viewpoints too often can get confusing, so I have to be careful with that. Detailed descriptions are my forté; action scenes, less so. As for background info, it's much more fun to let the reader discover it as they go along rather than dump it all on them at once, which can be annoying and doesn't really show much talent on the part of the writer. Subtly revealing details as the story goes is what makes a good writer, I think.
